Abstract

Blazer - MCC Blazer & tie presented by Cyril Walters, captain of MCC tour to India (1933). Cyril Frederick Walters was born in Bedlinog, Glamorganshire in 1905. A right handed bat, he played for Glamorgan county as a 17 year old in 1923 but by 1928 had signed as captain and secretary of Worcestershire for whom he qualified in 1930. A classically graceful batsman, Walters played in 11 tests for England including the tour to India in 1934. That year Cyril Walters was named Wisden's Player of the Year, for his high scoring and stylish batting. Later the same year he captained England for one match. Walters also captained the MCC on their 1933 tour to India. He retired from first class cricket in 1935 and died in Neath in 1992 aged 87. This is the blazer and tie he wore as captain of the MCC on the tour to India in 1933. Kindly gifted by Cyril Walters
