This collage represents the Swansea RFC first fifteen of 1886-87, the season they won the South Wales Challenge Cup for the second time, having also won it in 1880. This season Swansea's record was: played: 28, won 18, drawn: 6, lost 4. the comparison with the previous season showed that the leadership qualities of Evan Richards had been the crucial ingrediant to a team that did not lack talent. In the Challenge Cup Swansea beat Carmarthen, Newport and then Llanelli in the final. Forward W.H. Howell scored the only try of the match, Dai Gwynn converting it.
