Abstract
This is the jersey worn by Swansea and Wales scrum-half Dicky Owen in his 35th and final appearance for Wales. The match was against Scotland and fittingly for Owen, played at St Helen’s. Now aged 34, Owen was accorded the honour of captaining the Welsh side for the third time and Wales won by 21 - 6, scoring 3 tries, 2 conversions and 2 drop goals. Swansea team mates Jack Bancroft (full-back), Billy Trew (outide-half) and Ivor Morgan (forward) also played in this match, Bancroft kicking 2 conversions and Trew getting one of the drop goals. 30,000 watched the match and Owen and Billy Trew were carried off the field by the jubilent home crowd at the final whistle. The greatest scrum-half of his generation hung up his boots at the end of the season.
